Window installers work a 39-hour week, Monday to Friday, and may work overtime. They work indoors and outdoors in most weather conditions. The work involves working at heights, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and some heavy lifting.
Trainees earn around £13,000. Supervisors may earn around £30,000.

Window installers work throughout the UK. Most companies are based in towns and cities, and may be large national firms or small companies.
GCSEs/S grades (A-E/1-5) or equivalent qualifications are preferred for Modern Apprenticeships.
There are no upper age limits, as long as applicants are able to lift windows and work at heights.
Initial training is provided by employers. Entrants then work with experienced window installers before being allowed to work alone. Trainees may work towards NVQs/SVQs at Levels 2 and 3.
Experienced window installers may become window surveyors or estimators, and many become self-employed.
