Leisure centre managers are responsible for all aspects of running a leisure centre. Their duties include:
Leisure centre managers' working hours are irregular and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. They also have to be at the centre for special events, emergencies or to supervise or cover for absent staff.
Most of their time is spent in the centre, but they may sometimes work outdoors.
Salaries range from around £18,000 for new leisure centre managers to more than £35,000 for experienced senior managers.

Leisure centre manager jobs are mostly filled by people with professional qualifications or degrees, and at least five years' employment experience. Non-graduates may gain experience working in different areas of the leisure centre, attain professional qualifications and progress through the levels to manager. There is no upper age limit.
Training is on the job, while studying for relevant professional qualifications.
