Air cabin crew look after passengers on aircraft, making sure they are safe during the flight.

Cabin crew must be flexible about working times. They work weekends, overnights and public holidays. Conditions are very restricted, and they spend a lot of time on their feet.
The amount of time spent away from home varies. Jetlag is a problem, and working under air pressure in a plane can cause tiredness and sometimes health problems.
A new recruit earns around £9,000. The salary for senior crew is around £17,000.
Air cabin crew need to be:
Air cabin crew work for airline companies. They usually have to live near the airport. Competition for places is very intense.
Crew should have GCSEs/S grades - English, maths and a foreign language are useful. Experience of customer service work is often required. The minimum age is usually 19, and there are unlikely to be opportunities for new recruits over 30.
Airlines run their own training courses lasting for four to six weeks, prior to training on the job with senior crew.
Experienced staff can be promoted to senior cabin crew. There may also be opportunities to transfer to ground-based employment with the airline.
